Air
Most major international airlines service daily flights to St Petersburg. International flights arrive in St Petersburg at Pulkovo-2, about 17 kilometres south of the city centre. The trip into the city centre usually takes an hour by public transport and a half an hour by taxi. If you need to get from terminal 2 to terminal 1 (domestic flights), there is a bus that makes the trip in 20-30 minutes. All major airlines have offices in downtown St Petersburg and many of them also at Pulkovo-2 International Airport.
Train
The main rail gateways from Europe to European Russia are Helsinki, Warsaw, Prague and Budapest but trains run all the way from Amsterdam, Athens, Berlin, Brussels, Bucharest, Frankfurt, Paris, Riga, Tallinn, Venice and Vilnius.
The Helsinki - St Petersburg railway line is served by two trains: the Russian-managed #33/34 "Repin" and the Finnish-managed #35/36 "Sibelius". The journey takes about 6 hours. You can buy tickets easily at the railway station of Helsinki by doing this you will be assured a seat.
Note that you´ll go through customs and immigration when you cross the border, not at the station.
Transfer service
You will be picked up at the airport or railway station, no matter when you arrive. You will find a person waiting for you, holding a sign with your name on it. This transfer service is included in all our study packages if you book accommodation.
