The language centre is situated in a pleasant area in the heart of historic Nizhny Novgorod. Its three administrative buildings and the hall of residence are within walking distance of the city centre and all of its major attractions and shops and are accessible from all parts of the city by public transport.
The 16th century Kremlin with its Cathedral (the oldest building in the city), and the magnificent "Upper Embankment" located in a beautiful park on top of the cliffs overlooking the river Volga and the fields beyond are also near to the University.
On the campus area there is a health clinic, cafés, a sports centre and even a ski centre. There are lots of cafes, restaurants and bars in the city centre as well.
The theatre has always held a special place in Nizhny Novgorod. Altogether there are six of them in the city, but there are also plenty of museums and other cultural places of interest. We definitely recommend a short cruise on the river Volga. The University organises excursions to Vladimir and Suzdal or along the Volga to, for example, the Makaryevsky monastery. These excursions are not included in the course package. You can pay for them directly to the university. Excursions to Moscow or St Petersburg are also arranged for those interested.
