Duanwu Festival, is a holiday in China, occurring on the 5th day of the 5th month of the lunar calendar. Main customs of the celebration include eating rice dumpling (zongzi), hanging calamus, smoked herb, drinking Realgar wine (xionghuangjiu), and racing dragon boats. The most popular activity done is the racing of Dragon Boats. The local people were said to have paddled out on boats, either to scare the fish away or to retrieve his body.
