Cultural life and how to travel to Kunming

Kunming offers cultural life, good shopping and many local products. The interaction of different cultures, religions and colorful lifestyles offers visitors much to see. Kunming is famous for local handiwork including ivory and woodcarving. There is also an interesting museum and famous theatres, often specialized in folkdances, music and songs.

Kunming has a famous silk production where you also can buy fantastic silk-products. Dai people are good at making articles made from bamboo.

You can also sample local products such as dried mushrooms, tropical fruits and batik.

Night life
Kunming has a vibrant night life. As darkness falls a whole new range of interests await you. Kundu night market is a place that concentrates on dining, tourism, shopping as well as culture. You find theatres, teahouses, coffee houses, several pubs, Internet bars, local snacks and so on.

Getting to Kunming
There are flights to Kunming from many cities in South-east Asia, such as Hong Kong, Taipei, Osaka, Seoul, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Phnom Penh, Hanoi and Dhaka. Kunming also has frequent domestic flights to about 40 major cities in China.
Kunming Airport lies only about four kilometers (about 2.5 miles) away from the downtown area.
